The program opened with a candle lighting ceremony, and the recitation of the prayer “El Moleh Rachamin”.   The guest speaker, Mrs. Bronia Brandman, is a child survivor of Auschwitz, a retired New York City public school teacher, and currently a volunteer at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park.  Mrs. Brandman, whose rare pre-war photographs were shared with the audience via a power point presentation, described her daily family life before the war broke out. She then painfully portrayed the hell that was Auschwitz where she spent two years.

The supper portion of the event was generously sponsored by The Orlow Law Firm, Barry Seidel, Esq. and Stephanie S. Goldstone, Esq.

The Holocaust Resource Center, run by executive director Dr. Arthur Flug, “serves to educate current and future generations about the ramifications of unbridled prejudice, racism and stereotyping.”  The Center features changing exhibits and is  open to the public, Monday – Thursday 9AM – 5PM and Friday 10AM – 4PM. They are located at 222-05 56th Ave., Bayside, NY 11364 and can be reached at (718) 281-5770 or online at:  qcc.cuny.edu/khrca.
