A Scholarship Fund for Jewish Law Students

Brandeis Association Logo banner

The Brandeis Association of Queens County Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to Jewish law students currently in the 2nd or 3rd year of study at the time of submission.

This scholarship fund is given to further the long and considerable contributions by the many Jewish Legal Professionals of the Borough of Queens through the years who have worked tirelessly to uphold the standards and ethics of our time-honored profession.

This scholarship is given to worthy applicants annually in the name of these past members of the Brandeis Association.

Jerome Ginsberg

JEROME GINSBERG was a former Vice-President of the Brandeis Association and President of the Queens County Bar Association. He distinguished himself as a litigator, renowned for his professional and personal philanthropy. He was a Chairman of the New York City Juvenile Justice Department Advisory Committee and Chairman of the Advisory Committee to the Faculty of CUNY's Continuing Education-Paralegal Studies. He also served as a Professor at the University of Korea Law School and served as an Advisor to the House Chairman of the Sub Committee on Asia and Pacific Affairs.

Moses M. Weinstein

MOSES M. WEINSTEIN was an icon of Queens Government, Politics and the Judiciary. He was a former Assemblyman and Majority Leader, Assembly Speaker and Democratic County Leader. After politics, he became a Supreme Court Justice, Administrative Judge of the Queens Supreme Court and an Appellate Division Justice whose career spanned decades. He was responsible for the start of the careers of many prominent elected officials and Judges in our county. He was an early supporter of the Brandeis Association.

Hon. Charles J. Thomas

The HON. CHARLES J. THOMAS was one of State’s finest Jurists and continues to serve as a mentor to Judges throughout the State in Guardianship. He wrote the book on running a Guardianship Part. Judge Thomas and his wife Liliane, who left us way to soon, were always strong supporters of Brandeis, and Brandeis enjoyed having Liliane at our breakfasts and all our Brandeis events.
